Ammunition
Biden’s Latest “I DID THAT!”: Shutting Down Ammo Production
This isn’t a fever-swamp conspiracy theory; this is happening right now.
Ever since the first whispers of a global pandemic began circulating, ammo has been expensive and hard to get. Most of this has been due to panic buying, although global and national supply-chain issues have played a big role as well. Every time the supply seems to loosen up, some new crisis rears its ugly head and America does more panic-buying. Now, the Biden administration has decided to make that at least 30 percent worse. Better still, they’re proving just how “popular” gun control really is by making this move quietly, behind the scenes, in hopes of springing it on the public as a fait accompli. We here at Popular EDC–together with the folks over at NRA-ILA–think this latest move by the Biden administration needs some sunshine and visibility among the people most likely to be affected … you.
Naturally, the first thing you’ll want to know is where you can still get ammunition at last week’s prices. The good news is that we have locked in some deals with our partners at Two Birds Outdoors that will remain in place for a few more days … at the time of this writing, there’s still stock!

And now, for the information you need to know about what’s happening, why, and how to fight it. Take it away, NRA-ILA!

Treachery! White House Moves to Strangle U.S. Ammunition Supply
THURSDAY, JUNE 16, 2022
By NRA-ILA Staff
Last night, news broke that the Biden Administration is taking behind-the-scenes steps to further strangle the already constricted market for ammunition in the United States. The move could result in a reduction of the commercial production of 5.56 caliber ammunition by over thirty percent.
The move, if completed, would dramatically reduce availability of ammunition for America’s most popular rifle (and, not coincidentally, the one most targeted by gun prohibitionists).
Supplies would undoubtedly plummet and prices would undoubtedly skyrocket, putting the availability of ammunition for self-defense, training, and competition out of reach to many Americans.
News of the move was broken by Larry Keane, the general counsel and senior vice president at the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the leading trade association for America’s firearms and ammunition industries. Keane on Wednesday night published a tweet, which stated: “The U.S. Military is actively considering shutting down the sale [of] M855/SS109 ammo from Lake City to the commercial market.”
The cartridges mentioned in Keane’s post are very popular forms of 5.56 caliber ammunition, the most common caliber for the AR-15.
Close followers of Second Amendment issues will remember that these same rounds were targeted by the Obama/Biden administration under the guise of relabeling them “armor piercing ammunition,” which is banned from commercial sale by federal law. The resulting (and righteous) furor from the Second Amendment community was so intense that it culminated in Obama’s ATF director, B. Todd Jones, quitting his job. Jones had been the first and only confirmed ATF director since Senate approval became required for that post.
Lake City is a sprawling ammunition plant in Independence, Missouri, originally established by Remington in 1941 to manufacture and test Ammunition for the U.S. Army. It is currently owned by the government and operated by private contractors and produces well over a billion rounds of ammunition per year.
Ammunition in excess of the government’s requirements has long been made available to the private commercial market. Lake City’s output, according to some estimates, accounts for one-third of the 5.56 caliber ammunition available to U.S. consumers.
Of course, gun prohibition advocates have a long-standing desire to ban the AR-15 and other types of semiautomatic long guns outright. Joe Biden in particular loves to brag of authoring the so-called “assault weapons” ban that Bill Clinton signed into law in 1994. Congress, however, allowed the ban to expire 10 years later, after a Department of Justice sponsored study was unable to substantiate any significant crime reduction benefit from it.
Needless to say, this attack on America’s ammunition supply is just the most recent in a long line of anti-freedom attacks by the Biden Administration.
NRA will be working to fight this effort to crush America’s ammunition supply, just as we did with the last attack on M855 ammunition, and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Unfortunately this “ban” has a life of its own. The truth is, neither the Army, nor Winchester has confirmed that such an order has come through. This IS in the Biden/Harris gun control wish list which is online. I really wish our own “2a” people would stop with the fear monger attitude and bring the real news 100% fact and verified to us instead of taking a “story” and running with it.
While the US Army runs Lake City and is subject to federal control,
There are other issues that say this is fake.
1) the US Army does not manufacture munitions, it is outsourced to private contractors.
2) Winchester is the current contact holder for the US Army, they are NOT subject to the same oversight as the Army.
3) Winchester has a contract which would have to be rewritten and approved if this were to be even remotely true and since Winchester is a “for profit” company they would never agree to cut their profit margins just for a government contract.
4) Biden would have to seek approval from the senate to have this even be a possibility. With 48billion in aid to Ukrainian forces they need the full speed and production to continue.

Lies, lies and more lies from our Socialist Democrat Tyrannical government. Now again, we have patriots and loyalists. Patriots won in 1776 and April 9,1865. American Patriots do not surrender to tyranny. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Actually Ukraine is using Russian calibre ammo in most rifles. It is important to keep fully automated. Lines operating at full capacity. When shut down re starts are complex operation. Further loss of trained staff is difficult if shut down !ine. Lastly Army still made munitions
and refurbished munitions on limited basis while I worked at AMC.

This current administration is as anti gun as you can get.Would put nothing past them to squeeze the production of 5.56 ammo. This is the same lying fool in the White House that says trust me I’m not going for more GUN control. At least Obama made no disguise of his intentions. The November midterms this yet couldn’t be more important.

Stuff like this is why we have the 2nd amendment in the first place. Biden wants to be like Hitler, Stalin, Mao and every other totalitarian who disarmed their population. I have zero confidence that the republicans will do the right thing and stop this blithering mad man. That means it’s up to We the People, the true militia of this country. Call your senator and congressman often and let them know they will be thrown out of office if they go all with Joke Biden.

This is really happening because the Government is running out of ammo. There is a shortage of antimony which is mostly produced by, you guessed it. China and Russia. The Biden admin is just using it as an excuse.

You guys that shoot a lot and want to keep doing so or you just want to stock up need to learn how to roll your own.
Get the equipment. Stock up on handloading supplies. Get a handloading manual. Powder has just come back from being hard to get. Some particular powders are still hard to find. Primers have been the issue. But are gradually coming back after the manufacturers over seas started invading the market. If you have a hard time finding your particular bullet you can learn to cast your own. But 9mm, 223 and 30 caliber bullets have been readily available again for some time. Now I’m not going to tell you this is as cheap as it was five years ago but prices are starting to come down. It is still cheaper than buying ammo. And this is a hedge against someone making your ammo unavailable.

I have questions about this so called “behind the scenes order.” They’re based on two Knowns. First, we know that the Military has approved and adopted a new Rifle platform. Second, along with that platform, a new cartridge has been adopted as well, the 6.8 SPC. This means at some point, if not already, Winchester will need to tool up the line for the new cartridge. In preparation for that, is the Military stopping surplus sales and buying all Lake City’s output to stockpile and see them through the transition to the new platform and cartridge? That would be the logical course of action the Military might make.
I’m not defending McSniffy Schitz-His-Pants or his regime, God knows I wouldn’t shed a tear if the Demented, Lying Schittwad dropped dead from sniffing little girls too hard, but I think it’s entirely possible other factors may be at play.

The number one crisis is Joe Biden. Someone needs to take care of the crisis before it gets any worse.
