Extraordinary Everyday Carry: G9 Defense’s Devastating External Hollow Point 9mm

When it comes to defensive ammo, hollow points are the name of the game.

That’s because a hollow point projectile expands upon impact, which does two things: First, it helps prevent the bullet from exiting the target (thus endangering innocent bystanders), and second, it causes the bullet to mushroom out into several sharp angles that create a wound cavity that’s much larger than the diameter of the unfired bullet. There’s just one problem with all of the above: Hollow points generally require that the bullet expand in order to create that wound channel. Not so with the all-new G9 Defense External Hollow Point 9mm.

This state-of-the-art external hollow point does not require expansion to create a devastating wound channel. Instead, it utilizes a unique and patented shape to create cavitation by way of fluid dynamics. The result is, the uniform transfer of energy causing a massive wound channel, 5-6 times larger than traditional hollow points, while consistently penetrating to an optimal depth.

The G9 Defense External Hollow Point features a unique, patented shape that is also designed for the penetration of common barriers such as windshields, drywall, and vehicle sheet metal without deflection or projectile deformation. Machined from solid copper, this unique bullet has no possibility of jacket separation, which often renders other defensive ammunition ineffective. It passes right through common barriers without transferring energy, so there is still a consistent and dynamic effect on the intended target. This EHP bullet features proprietary geometry on the exterior of the projectile that produces a barrier blind capability and extreme devastation once it encounters fluid-like media (e.g., the attacker’s body) at its intended target.

While designed to cut through hard materials, the EHP’s shape slows the round quickly in tissue to prevent over-penetration. The shape of this bullet is engineered to immediately transfer the maximum amount of energy and fluid laterally upon impact with tissue, creating a devastating entrance wound, large permanent wound cavity, and a controlled depth of penetration not seen in conventional hollow point projectiles or other defensive handguns offerings. Unlike traditional hollow point bullets, G9’s EHP does not change shape to produce a threat stopping wound, removing the variable that most commonly causes hollow points to fail. In addition to reliable performance, the lightweight EHP projectile greatly reduces carry weight and felt recoil.

Every aspect of G9’s EHP has been scrutinized and engineered to produce the best carry ammunition for a defensive handgun. As a responsible citizen, your training should include scenarios that are realistic. The ammunition you select should be up to the job as well. personal defense ammunition is a critical aspect of self-defense for gun owners, especially those who rely on the popular 9 mm caliber. Numerous manufacturers produce 9mm ammo, but none offer the level of innovation that G9 Defense can.

There is so much in this article that defies the basic laws of both physics and ballistics, it’s almost hard to start:
A bullet cannot penetrate common barriers without transferring energy. Kinetic has to overcome potential energy and some loss of velocity (exchange) must take place no matter how miniscule.
A bullet strains the surface at impact until the surface yields. From flesh to steel this typically results in hole that is forensically smaller than the diameter of the projectile. A 9mm drill makes a 9mm hole. So no, there are no “devastating entrance wound” as the projectile is not yet surrounded by fluid.
Lastly, the molecular structure of muscle and bone are vastly different than gelatin. The direction at which they sheer are not the same as ballistics gelatin. Gel is much closer to organs and that may give you an apples to apples comparative, but the recent claims it represents wounding capacity are not accurate and are simple marketing devices.
Whatever good qualities this round may have, and there may be many, are clouded by the ridiculous hype. Why? They have to hype to tissue performance to create a “legitimate sporting purpose” and avoid being categorized as armor piercing.

How about some detailed photos of the bullet and some gel block videos?
