Go ahead and look down at your waist. Now, ask yourself why you have that specific brand of ammo in your gun. Was it because the advertising was convincing? Was it because a friend who knows a cop that knows a special forces guy told you that IT was the BEST? Hell, maybe it was…
Not maintaining your EDC blade is about as crazy as not maintaining your handgun. A dull blade is going to be frustrating to work with and will likely slip off of whatever you are trying to cut, risking injury. Sharpening a blade is no simple skill. To this day I still cannot consistently eyeball a…
There’s no arguing that we spend hundreds of hours debating what the best gear is to carry. From guns, to knives to even watches and flashlights we consider every aspect of the item we select from each category. While all of these items are instrumental to carry we seldom think about the gear that is…
There was a time when pistol red dots were either a symbol of affluence or an indicator that a firearm belonged to a high-level competitor. Today that is simply not the case. Heck, USPSA even created the “carry-optics division” to accommodate their growing popularity and the changing eyesight of those who have been competing for…
I’ll never forget the first time I read the words “The Aging Defender” it was the title of an article that went into detail on what else to expect later in life besides more frequent bathroom visits and the occasional unscheduled underwear change. These functions aren’t the only ones that won’t be as crisp when…
See how the Bear Bold Action V stacks up against our other top picks in the best automatic knife guide. Most of us get prepared for the day by strapping on a gun and if we are smart, a knife. The gear we select is often based on the idea that we might encounter someone…

In the same respect we consider all of the different ways to carry guns, flashlights, knives, and everything else on our person, but what about the larger items, or those that are best confined to…

Robbery…murder…the New York State SAFE Act…let’s face it—bad things happen at night. If your gun isn’t equipped with highly visible XS…
Should we be public about our gun ownership or should we keep it to ourselves? As with all topics of this nature I like to stay subjective and look at all angles. One’s choice in handling this matter is really as personal a decision as what firearm to own. Let’s start with a good long…
Ah the laser sight, iconized by Hollywood and pop culture alike as the say-all, end-all of shot placement. “Just put the dot where you want the bullet” is how they are often sold, but is that entirely true? I mean if lasers were the only aiming device needed surely they would have become stock features…
When the holsters arrived I gave them a once over and a quick test fit. I noticed that a stiffer polycarbonate material was used where most holsters makers would use every day Kydex. That gave the unit a much more solid feel and eliminated…
