LA Police Gear is best known for the monstrous assortment of brands that it carries and makes available to civilians and law enforcement alike. Of them all, there is one brand that is gaining recognition for being tough as nails and affordable—its own. I have been trying more and more of the “house brand” lately…
This is America. We don’t choose between chili and cheese for our fries, we glob both on and ask for more, you commie bastard. We feel the same way when it comes to capacity and concealability. A few years back we started seeing the compromise break down and high (for liberals) capacity carry pistols became…
Are your pants glowing or are you happy to see me? Damn it, I pocket-poked my tactical flashlight … a couple more minutes, and I would have burned my pants. Those of you who EDC know what I am talking about. Your tacticool flashlight with the million-lumen output accidentally gets turned on for who knows…
There are three things that you need to win a gunfight: capacity, capacity, and capacity. Ok, that’s not true, but it’s pretty hard to stop a rapist with a gun that just ran dry. Until just a few years ago, having double-digit pain on board meant finding a way to conceal a larger gun–but that…
Every day carry (EDC) means being a good ambassador for the Second Amendment community. Part of that responsibility is introducing new shooters to the world of firearms by giving them a positive first interaction, making them want to learn more. Often times people come to firearms with preconceived notions, fears, or concerns based on past…
When selecting a good EDC blade, simplicity often equals strength. Having fewer parts also means having fewer fail points and fewer production steps. While this results in a no-nonsense knife, it often also winds up being tough as nails and free of a premium price tag. This is precisely the case with the Bear Cutlery…
Shooting paper is the simplest target solution out there, there is no denying that. Although it sets up quickly and is readily available it does have a few issues, such as needing constant repair and replacement. All of these breaks in the action cut into your shooting time and disrupt any rhythm that you be…
A long time ago, fellow Top Shot competitor Keith Gibson made a good point when we were on the subject of carry guns. He said that his next purchase was going to be something stupid small so that he would have absolutely no reason not to have something on him at all times. Fast forward…
Hand stops have evolved from competition based luxury items to pretty much a standard feature on today’s modern sporting rifles. Having a hand stop on your AR-15 or similar firearm allows you to instantly return to the same hand position every time you pick up your rifle. This repeatability is critical for building skills that…
ALPS OutdoorZ is traditionally associated with hunting gear and its extensive line of purpose-built packs. I have pulled these packs across many sections of the Appalachian Trail and on numerous hunts across the continent. While they fit the needs for specific outdoor activities, I’ve always wondered how they would address an “everyday carry” variant should…
About 10 years ago I was sitting in NRA Headquarters undergoing the necessary training to be promoted to Training Counselor. In the course sat a variety of instructors all of uniquely different backgrounds. While we all came from different places we all shared double-digit experience when it came to years of training students. In other…
When most gun owners hear the phrase “personal protection” they typically think of a handgun and holster. However personal protection can also be passive, such as in ballistic inserts and plate carriers. Before the internet, this equipment was either expensive, uncomfortable, or even both. When we find less expensive options we meet them with skepticism….
